Washing your hair with soap – a new lease of life for your hair and scalp

Your hair will be revitalised thanks to the natural ingredients in our soap. Our hair soaps give you naturally flowing, manageable and shiny hair, as well as a healthy scalp. Fine hair becomes more voluminous, whilst dry hair becomes softer. Natural ingredients such as burdock root extract, birch water and olive oil help to reduce dandruff and soothe an itchy scalp. Give your hair one to two weeks to get used to the new routine!

Washing your hair: Washing your hair with soap

For the best possible cleansing and care of your hair with soap, wet your hair thoroughly and work the soap into a lather directly on your scalp. Massage the lather thoroughly into your hair and spread it gently along the length of your hair. Then rinse the soap out carefully with water that isn’t too hot – it’s better to take a little longer to ensure that all traces of soap are removed.

The ‘acid rinse’ as a conditioner

For extra shine and easier combing, an acidic rinse is recommended after washing your hair with soap. This helps to remove limescale and soap residue: simply mix 2 tbsp of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar into 1 litre of water and pour or spray it over the lengths of your hair. Avoid direct contact with the scalp to prevent it from becoming greasy too quickly. Rinsing out the acidic rinse is optional, as the vinegar smell disappears once your hair is dry. Experiment with the concentration and frequency, depending on your water hardness and hair type.

The transition

When you wash your hair with soap for the first time, it may feel different at first. It often feels more texturised, fuller and doesn’t go greasy as quickly. This transition phase can take a few weeks, as the hair rids itself of chemical residues and returns to its natural structure. In the case of damaged hair, lime soap may cling to the hair for longer, which can result in a longer transition period.

Care tip

For extra care and softness, you can melt a small amount of coconut oil between your fingers and work it into the ends and lengths of your hair.

Hair soaps – not to be confused with shampoo bars

Hair soaps should not be confused with shampoo bars. These so-called ‘solid shampoos’ are often based on chemical additives and surfactants (e.g. sodium laureth sulphate), which do work but do not offer the natural cleansing effect of soap. Washing your hair with soap provides a natural and gentle alternative that cares for your hair in the long term and supports its natural structure.
