About Wiener Seife
Always follow your nose
In Vienna’s third district, you should “always follow your nose”, for it will lead you to Hintzerstraße 2 – a hub of fragrances and olfaction. There, in our welcoming store, we present our treasures, which turn your daily skin care routine into most enjoyable experiences. We make our soaps by hand in the gentle cold-stirring process, with the secret recipe that we inherited from Vienna’s last soap maker, Friedrich Weiss.
The sensuous blocks of soap are based on coconut oil, which provides for and protects your demanding skin with the power of nature – without chemical additives, mineral oils or conservatives. We use only the best natural oils, plant extracts (if possible from certified organic providers) and precious fragrances – with a powerful portion of love – to create our scented clean-makers with Viennese charm.
We’ve been running and developing our company with intense passion and joy since 2006. A good amount of our soap varieties was taken over from the legendary Friedrich Weiss, and many we developed ourselves, to reach over 70 lovingly created varieties of soap. With these, we’ve established a culture of comfort and care for your skin and soul. Our amazing soaps provide sustainable cleansing and care for your skin, your hair and – in the case of our N°01 Salt soap – even your teeth! With our products, we aim no less than to revolutionise your skin care routine and to reunite you with nature, quality and pleasure. Come slow down with us, return to the old, well-tried and find your way back to harmony with our environment.

Production
In the production of cold-stirred soap, the warmth created by the bonding of lye and coconut oil is used for saponification. This gentle, yet demanding, process allows all of the ingredients in the soap to remain intact – especially the valuable glycerine. The high-quality plant oils and extracts remain un-saponified and can therefore retain their full nourishing effect on skin. We use natural ingredients from certified organic providers, whenever possible.
Blocks of soap, weighing 50 kg each, are produced and then left for a number of days to ripen, before being cut into 125 g pieces. All is done with loving handwork: from the production of the different soaps, to the cutting of the individual pieces and their final packaging in bands of recycled paper. Responsible usage and handling of resources belongs intrinsically to our philosophy and is practiced every single day by our employees.
